The TPK-SR type nuts, to be mounted on a shaft WITHOUT thread, are studied in such a way that the threading operation on the shafts is eliminated.

To the extent that R&D provides benefits in all areas of mechanics, the requests made to it in new projects progress to the same extent. It is not difficult to see that for a given size of machine, the power today has doubled compared to a few years ago. Based on this fact, currently machine shafts are increasingly heat treated to improve their resistance to various parameters.

To avoid crystallization of the thread when subjected to the high temperatures necessary for quenching, the thread must be protected. The most convincing way to achieve a thread capable of absorbing significant loads, including shock and pulsating, is to machine the thread after heat treatment.

This represents one more addition within the machining phases and an important economic cost as well as an extra in the total time of completion of the piece. If to this we add transportation costs to the place of heat treatment and its subsequent return, etc., the use of TPK-SR nuts is fully justified.

The axial tightening function is identical to that of the TPK-H and TPK-W type nuts. The differentiation, on the other hand important between one type and another, is in its constructive form. It is precisely this constructive difference, based on the fact that the shaft thread has been incorporated into the nut itself, is what can encourage engineers and designers to use it. All shafts, especially those heat treated to improve their properties, are the final recipients of this type of nut. Its applications can mainly be directed to the medium-heavy and heavy industry. Such as the paper industry, lamination, wind, railway, etc., where significant lateral jump precision and large axial loads are required.

The body of the nuts is made of hardened and tempered highly elastic alloy steel, acquiring a hardness of 40 ÷ 45 Hrc and a resistance of 1,500 N / mm2 together with a high elastic recovery capacity typical of this type of steels. The threaded bushing is made of a hardened Cr-Mo alloy steel reaching a resistance of 900 N / mm2. The rest of the pieces are made of ST 55 steel.

The thread of the Precision KOOM nuts is machined with a fine workmanship quality according to DIN 13. The thread and the bearing face of the nuts are finished in a single tie, which allows to achieve a lateral jump of up to 0.01 mm with a support face flatness of up to 0.005 mm. The finish is fine (maximum roughness Ra 0.8 J).
